A contemporary oak library in this 1960's inspired room in a Grade 1 house in London. Lights were integrated into the underside of the shelves. The cabinets were finished in hand polished, pigmented lacquer.

PROJECT 642
A timber gun and sporting room for a classical house in Dorset. Each shotgun and rifle was individually surveyed to create the perfect storage for each gun. The guns housed in the central section of the furniture were angled inwards and each rests on a padded hide to protect the stocks. The central island was designed to store cartridges and cleaning equipment. The edges of the island were angled slightly to stop cylindrical gun parts and cartridges rolling off the surface. Extra thick leather was used on the island top.
MATERIALS European Oak, leather

PROJECT 494
This library cabinetry was produced from a mixture of solid American white oak and constructional oak veneer, the grain of which runs horizontally. Artichoke's cabinet makers lightly raked the grain of the timber, the surface of which was then hand treated with a white wax finish.
The cabinets either side of the door contain fixed shelves. The back panels to these units were spray finished in pigmented lacquer to suit the wall colour. and the interior carcase (other than the back panel) used crown cut veneer with the grain running vertically on the cheeks.

PROJECT 408
A bespoke library for a property in Bath made from solid American Cherry. The success of a project such as this relies heavily on the accuracy of the initial site survey, a process which Artichoke takes great pride in undertaking extremely accurately. The quality of the fitting teams is also crucial. To control the quality of the fit, Artichoke employs all of its own fitting teams.

PROJECT 325
Classical library furniture made from solid french walnut. The furniture has painted backs and side panels. The shelves sit on traditional dog tooth supports. Secret drawers pull out from the dado moulding run around the front edge of the cabinet top. The drawers have decorative maple wood dove tails and cedar wood bases. The furniture is hand polished and waxed to create an aged patina and to enhanced the beauty of the walnut.
MATERIALS French walnut, reading room red paint, maple drawers and cedar drawer bases.

PROJECT 287
Terrazzo steps lead up to solid American white oak treads fitted onto a mild steel sub-frame. A powder coated rolled steel handrail wrapped in a leather sleeve winds up the stairs; a glass balustrade is suspended from the handrail above. White lacquered cabinets hang off the subframe under the stairs. Oak sliding panels with sheer fabric panelling can be seen in the background.
MATERIALS American white oak, powder dipped steel, terrazzo, glass and oak

PROJECT 207
This piece of furniture was created for a library and is made of black walnut with glass shelves and lighting integrated throughout. The bookcase spans two floors and is five metres high with each cabinet containing a sub-section of shelving. Easy access was vital – a custom made aluminium ladder was the solution. A large element of the design included a specially engineered steel subframe to maximuse support and stability.
Materials: American black walnut, glass, steel and aluminium.
