Project 803

MAYFAIR, LONDON

The main requirement for this bespoke private bar was that it was to house the client’s original marble bust of Alexander the Great, a renowned wine lover. During the interior design phase, Artichoke’s creative team took consultation from the head barman at Claridge’s. The bar has been designed to allow two bar-staff to work consecutively without ever crossing over, and a slight curve allows all seated at the bar to see each other without leaning forward. The V&A Museum advised on appropriate ways to safely mount the original marble bust. LED backlit glazing is sited behind the shelves.

Primary materials: Wenge, silk, Carrara marble, film backed toughened glass.
