ST JOHN’S WOOD, LONDON
This study was designed for a Grade II* listed house in St John’s Wood. The campaign desk and chair were already in the client’s possession, and Artichoke were asked to design this desk to accompany them. We decided to use Cocobolo, a Central and South American timber, partly because of it’s reddish grain, and partly because the client was from Brazil. Cocobolo can also be polished to a lustrous finish, making it particularly suitable for its position near a natural light source. American black walnut was also used to outline the grid of the furniture.
Primary materials: Cocobolo veneer, solid American black walnut, dark oxidised bronze handles.
