Cabinet Maker

Artichoke specialises in the bespoke design, manufacture and installation of the highest quality fitted furniture commissions; including bespoke kitchens, bedroom wardrobes, libraries, gunrooms and the full conversions of country houses and period properties.

We are looking for a cabinet maker who is obsessed with detail, unrelenting in pursuit of quality and love what they do. We are looking for makers who will relish the opportunity to make fine fitted furniture that will become part of some of Britain’s most interesting traditional architecture.

The minimum requirement for application is a furniture or cabinet-making qualification with three to five years plus experience in a similar high end commercial cabinet making company.

Candidates must be skilled in all areas of cabinet making with excellent technical knowledge, understanding and experience in both solid and veneered work. You will also need to be able to demonstrate excellent hand and machine skills and to be able to make individual pieces, from start to finish, as well as working as part of a team on larger projects.

Senior Logistics Operator

Re-assembly, Wrap & Dispatch

Artichoke has been designing and making at the highest level in the residential cabinetmaking and joinery market for over 25 years.  Over the past two years we have increased in size and turnover.  We are building a bigger team to continue to manage our bespoke client projects with the care and diligence they all require.

One of the most vital roles for smooth operations in the business is in re-assembly, wrap and dispatch.  This is a varied area of work, requiring flexibility, skill, experience and good organization.  Most important of all is a diligent attitude and a meticulous finisher’s mentality.

We are looking for a motivated individual with a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar high quality production environment to join our Logistics Department, reporting to our Logistics Manager. The position will be assisted by a junior colleague.

The senior logistics operator will help manage and order our climate controlled timber and finished project storage facility, providing just-in-time delivery of timber to the workshop.  Re-assembly after finishing of project components requires skill and experience. We combine numerous bespoke items and metalwork, lighting systems and glassware into our projects.  Ironmongery is often bespoke made and can be of high value.  This work requires a high degree of skill and care.

At least 50% of role involves the protection and wrapping of finished high quality furniture items.  Finished project components need organisation, quality checking, wrapping, labeling and storage prior to a reliable dispatch to site.  This has become a core stage in our project delivery and requires patience and good organizational skills.

This is a varied and critical role in the business, requiring a positive outlook, hardworking, diligent individual with a meticulous and methodical approach to work with a ‘get it done & can do’ attitude.

Further Skills and Experience required:

  • Experienced in the use of hand tool, power tools and woodworking machinery.
  • Experience and knowledge in reading and understanding working drawings
  • Experience in the use of Excel and Microsoft programs.
  • Excellent housekeeping maintaining a tidy workstation and environment.
  • Good communication skills
  • Over 25 with a full, clean driving license. Experience driving large vans
  • To have an eye for detail and quality check all items liaising with the rest of the Production Team concerning any re-work necessary
  • To have a broad range of cabinet making skills, knowledge and experience including making, assembly & installation. Some finishing skills would provide an added benefit.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and adhering to schedules
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as individually with the ability to prioritize own tasks.
  • Ability to use own initiative in performing tasks, problem solving and achieving goals.
  • Good understanding of current Health and Safety practices including PPE etc.
  • The position will involve lifting, carrying pushing/ pulling of high quality finished furniture.
  • Role may include deliveries to site and assisting the installation team.
  • Counter Balance Fork Lift License advantageous but not essential. Training will be provided for the correct candidate. (Role includes the movement of projects ready for dispatch to distribution warehouse

Senior Fitter / Site Supervisor

As a company, our mission is to create exceptional interiors which enhance our client’s lives and their experience of living in traditional houses.

A significant percentage of our projects are in period country estates. The Artichoke team has developed a wealth of focused knowledge and experience in this sector and is able to offer our clients a high level of expertise from design concept through to completion.

We are now expanding our installations team to ensure we provide the best service to our clients through to practical completion of their projects.

Role

Artichoke’s site supervisors are our main representatives on site, working with our project directors to ensure our clients’ experience of our process is a good one.

The successful recruit will join two other site supervisors in our busy team working on site in country houses, central London and occasionally overseas, and at any one time will be responsible for 1/3rd of the company’s project installations.

This will involve taking responsibility for the successful site preparation, installation and snagging work for their projects, and managing third-party fitting teams.

Required Skills, Experience & Character

· A minimum 6 years’ experience in high end residential joinery installation work.

· An ability to set out and manage installations, including pre and post installation requirement, ensuring that fits are finished on time and to the highest standard.

· Confidence and knowledge to lead by example, when working alongside or supervising the work of all parties involved in the installation

· Excellent communication skills, keeping the Project Director, operations team and site contacts up to date at all times and delivering regular feedback reports

· An awareness of personal limits in both skill and experience and knowing when and who to ask for support in resolving issues

· High personal standards for punctuality, tidiness and professionalism

· Ability to carry out site check surveys and advise the building team to ensure the site is ready to fit

· Managing the snagging process to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently at the highest quality and in a timely manner

· Confidence to communicate clearly with powerful clients

· Flexibility and an appetite for varied work, some long journeys and week nights often spent away from home

This role will include exclusive use of a company van for work, mobile phone and other electronic equipment for communication, power tools and site fitting equipment.

Pay is offered at competitive rates and based on experience. Work, travel and live away expenses will be covered.
