Our state-of-the-art workshop and creative design studio are in Cheddar, Somerset, within easy reach of Bath, Bristol and the M5.

The opportunity

Working with us, you will be delivering truly bespoke solutions rather than churning out variations of a range. You will be creating legacy standard interiors in some of the world’s most intriguing homes.  Our clients are patrons of our craft who share our passion and are prepared to invest in quality – we only work with a handful at a time.  You will  have the chance to work as one with exceptional artisans across a myriad of specialist trades to achieve the remarkable for our clients and their houses.

Profile :

  • The minimum requirement for application is a furniture or cabinet-making qualification or five years plus experience in a similar high end commercial cabinet making company.
  • Candidates must be skilled in all areas of cabinet making with excellent technical knowledge and understanding and experience in both solid and veneered work. You will also need to be able to demonstrate excellent hand and machine skills and to be able to make individual pieces, from start to finish, as well as working as part of a team on larger projects.
  • The successful applicant will be someone who meets the requirements outlined above, shares our values and is the right fit for Artichoke and the Production Team.
  • Pay is offered at competitive rates and based on experience.

    Project Manager

        An experienced and professional Joinery Production Engineer is required to join the Artichoke production team. Responsible for taking 2D design drawings and a brief into a fully worked up 3D Inventor model with every detail resolved.  You will then prepare and issue manufacturing drawings to the makers and remain responsible for the technical aspects of the project through to installation.  You will also assist with the programming of the carcass parts for the CNC, all within the budgeted hours.


        • The perfect candidate will be fully proficient in Inventor, AutoCAD and FusionCAM or InventorCAM.  If you have two of the above but are missing the third then we still want to talk to you. Woodwork for inventor experience is also desirable
        • Microsoft office products are used throughout the company
        • You will have come from a Cabinet maker back ground and/or have a good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, materials selection and presentation
        • You will have the ability to work from drawings and specification sheets

        The following experience and knowledge is also required of an experienced Artichoke production engineer, some of which can be gained once in the role:

        • Knowledge of timber, timber technology, wood veneers and veneering techniques, wood finishes and finishing techniques, cabinet making and joinery.
        • Knowledge of period architectural styles, building techniques, mouldings and geometry from the 1700 onwards
        • Knowledge of quality kitchen appliances, sanitary ware and an understanding of mechanical and electrical services required to be connected to fitted furniture, kitchens, and bathrooms.


        • Modelling a scheme in 3D (Inventor) followed by the production of manufacturing drawings drawn from the 2D creative drawings from the Creative Design Department. Manufacturing drawings are used by the Artichoke workshop, subcontract makers and fitters and for the specification and instruction to purchase timber and specialist materials.
        • To program CNC tool paths for Carcassing works.
        • Ability to interpret technical requirements and design briefs
        • Liaising with design/production team regarding design issues
        • Assisting Artichokes Project Managers to create manufacturing orders when appropriate
        • Production of cutting lists for the purchase of sheet material.
        • Assisting in the production of accurate shopping list for the purchase of appliances alongside the project managers
        • Production of site installation drawings detailing precise position of furniture within site boundaries
        • Provision of technical assistance to fitting teams during both assembly and installation
        • Contributing to the regular design team meetings, including participation and suggestions as to team improvement
        • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
        • Attendance at project meetings as required
        • Discussions with suppliers of timber and hardware to ensure that the correct materials are used to both fit the design brief and the cost bill.
